Tournament Results

Randy Renaud scored the first goal in Rusty Blades history in a game against Springfield Team Elder on December 9, 2006!

The Rusty Blades tied their first game ever in game against Springfield Team Wallenmeyer (the Beavers) on December 9, 2006.

We didn't win at our tournament in Kansas City in 2007, but started scoring some tournament goals, at least. Scorers for the Recreational division team were Susie Walter, Ted Glover, and Dylan Ruffner. Steve Baxter scored the lone goal for the Novice team. We learned a lot, met a lot of great people, won a lot of door prizes, and had fun!

Our coed team finally got its first win against Huntsville, where we won the first game and lost the other two games in close games. The Huntsville team was awesome and our kind of people! We had a great time with them and look forward to playing them again!!

Our Rusty Cup Tournament March 28-30, 2008 was a great success, we think, and everyone had a great time. We, of course, came in 4th and 5th place, and the Huntsville Geriatric Termites won the cup. For more info, scores, and pictures, go to our Rusty Cup 08 page.

The Rusty Blades played in the Inaugural Beaver Skull B/C Tournament in Springfield, MO, August 8-10, 2008, and finally won their first tournament game versus the Springfield Skulls, 6-4. Our first game was a 5-3 loss against the Lebanon Twisters, who went on to win the tournament, followed by a tie and eventual loss in the shootout to the Springfield Beavers. We lost the elimination game to come in 5th for the weekend.

We had 3 teams in the Rusty Cup II tournament March 27-29, 2009, out of a total of 8 teams. We came in 5th, 6th, and 7th, each winning 1 game. Rick Murray recorded the first tournament shutout for the Rusty Blades.

The Rusty Blades returned to the Kansas Keg for the 3rd year and competed in the Greenhorn Division. We actually not only won games, but won the division for the first time!! In addition, John Maurer recorded two shutouts in the tournament. To see our team picture with the Kansas Keg, click here.

We returned to the Springfield B/C Tournament August 7-9, 2009. Although we lost our 1st game to the Springfield Booze 9-5, we went on to win against the Omaha Bombers (13-3), Springfield Skulls (7-1) & Springfield Firemen (9-2) to end up in the Division playoff game, facing the Booze again and winning that game 5-3 to go on to the Championship game. There, Team Herbert beat us 9-1, so we came in 2nd out of 10 teams. To see our team picture with the trophy, click here.

Our first attempt at the USAH/Labatt Blue tournament in Dallas April 16-18, 2010 was pretty much a disaster. We sent a team which should have been in the Beginner Division, and ended up in Novice. We played the Novice Division 1st & 2nd place teams from last year and lost 8-0 both games (shots on goal 40+ to 1 & 37-8), then played a Beginner/Novice team and only lost 6-1. But I think we had a good time overall, and next time I know we can put a team together to compete in the right division!

We won the Leisure Division in the Kansas City Keg in April 2010!!

At our 3rd Annual Rusty Cup Tournament, we had 3 C teams (combined record 1-6-2) and 1 D team (record 0-3-1).

We came in 2nd place at the Springfield B/C Tournament August 6-8, 2010, after 6 grueling games in 48 hours. Our record there was 4-1-1.

Our coed record now stands at 23-46-8.
